Day Training

At its core, Day Training combines training, exercise, socialization, and mental stimulation, with a focus on fostering a calm state of mind. It’s about making sure that your dog is getting what they need to be mentally and physically fulfilled while teaching them appropriate behaviors.

Day training allows us to focus on each task for longer, enabling us to maximize our training. Everything is taught with a 6-foot leash, starting in a neutral, controlled environment. I live on 2 fenced acres and have an additional fenced area for safe, monitored introductions/playtime, as well as a training room that allows us to work without distractions. It’s an ideal alternative for owners who don’t have the time to commit to training or prefer to have it done by a certified trainer.

Day training is especially beneficial for dogs who struggle with impulse control, lack social skills, are fearful, struggle with anxiety, and need exposure training, as it provides the time needed for gradual changes in your dog’s thinking and behavior.

Training is 6 hrs/day M-F and typically covers the following, but the program will be adjusted to your dog’s specific needs.

  • Loose Leash Walking

  • Place Training

  • Heel

  • Come

  • Sit, Down (with implied stays)

  • Crate Training

There’s a 2-week minimum (6 hrs/day M-F), and for obedience, many dogs are fine with just that. Dogs who struggle with behavioral issues, like reactivity, will likely need more time, which will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

At the end of the program, you’ll get a 'go-home' lesson where I’ll walk you through the 'how-tos' for everything I’ve done with your dog so you understand how to reinforce it. This isn't just about training your dog; it’s about teaching you to read their body language and communicate with them properly.
